Classes held at My Studio, 44 Railroad Plaza, Glen Head, NY  11545 conveniently located next to the Gold Coast Library.

• OPEN STUDIO TIME

THERE WILL BE NO OPEN STUDIO ON THURSDAY OCTOBER 2, 2008
AND TUESDAY AUGUST 19, 2008

Tuesday evenings 6:00 - 9:00 pm

Thursday mornings :  10:30 am to 1:30 pm. 

REGISTRATION IS NOW REQUIRED.  (if the minimum number of students are not signed up, open studio will be cancelled for that session)

$10 per HOUR with a minimum of 2 hours each session

 Please note that Open Studio is designed for independent study.  Tools and equipment will be available for use during Open Studio Time. A monitor will be available to aid students in purchasing supplies and answering simple questions ONLY.  There will be NO INSTRUCTION during Open Studio Time  Please hold questions on technique and design for classes and Q&A sessions.  

  Additional fees include the purchase of glass and firing fee of $.10 per gram. Glass will be fired and available the following week.

Jewelry findings are an additional cost.

 Have some questions that don’t fit into one of the class offerings? Need help with a project?  Come to a Q&A class to answer all your questions. A beginner class or previous experience required.  Firing and glass fees apply.

Workshops:

 

• Fused Glass Tiles and Basic Slumping

3 Sessions Wednesdays  6:30 - 9:30 pm
July 9, 16, 23, 2008

$300 (registration required)

Students will explore design, color and decorative techniques used in making
functional glass.  Techniques include advanced cutting, using frit, coldworking,
using dams for thicker pieces and adding tack fused decoration for texture. 
Discussion of firing schedules, annealing and use of kiln wash.  Emphasis
will be on creative expression while using sound methods and techniques.Students
will complete 4 tiles and 2 bowls or plates (one full fused and one tack fused). ALL materials and firing fees included.

 

• Fused Glass Jewelry Making with Dichroic Glass

3 Sessions Thursdays 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

$300 (registration required)

Explore the possibilities of fused glass and dichroic glass as it applies to jewelry making.  We will begin with basic cutting, design, safety and compatibility.  We will then add inclusions, design elements and decorations to the glass. We will complete the class with coldworking techniques to give your work a more finished look.  Emphasis will be on creative expression while using sound methods and techniques.  Students will complete a series of finished jewelry pieces.  ALL materials and firing fees are included.
